Lamode: Slixk. How you feeling bro? Thank you for pulling up.
Slixk: Feeling good, can’t feel no better. Appreciate you for having me here.
Lamode: Let’s talk about that new single “My Way”. When does it drop?
Slixk: Yes, one of my singles I’m dropping before my EP “Slixk Tape”, Just giving you a gist of my vibe and sound. I plan on dropping “My Way” on December 6th on all platforms; also with a music video.
Lamode: That’s what’s up. Is it part of the new project “Slixk Tapes”
Slixk: It’s not going be apart of “Slixk Tape” unfortunately.

Lamode: Man, I can’t wait to check them both out. What’s your favorite track off that joint?
Slixk: So I got one track named “Out of town”. It was a funny track to make and just the energy and charisma it brings. Hope you enjoy it.
Lamode: Let’s talk about moving from Georgia to the West Coast. When did that happen and why?
Slixk: So yeah, I’m originally from a small town in Georgia called Macon. I was in the military, so I travel all around the world consistently. My last year in the service was in San Diego. I fell in love with the 619 from the first day I stepped foot in it.
Lamode: Was it a culture shock. I peeped your page and noticed you still have that Southern sauce.
Slixk: It wasn’t much of a culture shock. The people and the environment is different from Georgia, but I done been to places like Japan, Thailand, and many other places where the culture is very unfamiliar.
Lamode: You know what, I been wanting to go to San Diego real bad. It just seems so lowkey and smooth. You plan on staying there long?
Slixk: You should visit. It’s very chill and depending on the time of the year the weather is extremely nice. Especially during the early summers. I don’t have no idea if I’m going stay my whole life but we’ll see when that time come.
Lamode: Who do you got on your playlist right now?
Slixk: Funny you mention that, I listen to today’s rappers, but not as much as I listen to 80’s and 90’s R&B. It gives a nostalgic vibe when listening. I love listening to Mary J Blige, Jodeci, Sade, it’s a lot I can name. But as far as today’s artists, I love Giveon or it got to be Drake, Brent Faiyaz/Sonder, Don Toliver, Outkast and Future.
Lamode: I feel that 100 percent. I’m still stuck in the 90’s myself. I remember growing and listening to all these artists you mentioned as they dropped. Since then, I realized that there aren’t many artists left in R&B that really sing with soul. So it’s real refreshing to see Brent Faiyaz and his rebrand and how he’s really living in his aesthetic and not just using it for an era. Would you say that you’re inspired by these artists? Are there other artists you’re inspired by?
Slixk: Drake’s longevity and just adaptability to the music industry is effortless. Brent and Don, I like their style & sound. It inspired me to find my own and elevate it. Outkast is probably one of my favorite groups of all time. Big Boy’s delivery and word play is impeccable. Andre3000’s creativity, cadence, and lyrics are out of this world, to me. A lot of people don’t give them they flowers. Last, but not least, Future. Just like his confidence and demeanor. Plus I grew up my whole life listening to Future.
Lamode: Do you tour or perform?
Slixk: I do plan on touring and performing soon. Build me a bigger organic fan base. I try to do as many open mics as I can, just to get the butterflies out my stomach for when I get a bigger opportunity.
Lamode: I feel that. I used to do the exact same. Everything comes with time and practice, and there’s no better way to practice than to perform. What’s your plans for 2024?
Slixk: None that I know of, just more music, more visuals, and more projects. Hoping everything goes into fruition.

Lamode: Yo, so I’m digging a lot of your pictures and your aesthetic. Do you work with a creative director or is that all you? Who shoots most of your pics?
Slixk: Thanks I try my best, but I do it on my own. Me and one of my close friend from Houston. He really talented with the camera.
Lamode: I’m gonna have to tap in. So the name of this magazine is Bad Habit. What’s your Bad Habit?
Slixk: My bad habit is probably hesitation. I be so scared of failing that it stops me from actually going out and trying it. I learned you got to fail before succeeding.
Lamode: Yeah, I feel that. I can honestly say that I’ve been in the same boat myself. Like before starting this platform. Or being a afraid to drop music out of fear of what people might think. Sometimes you gotta just remember that life is real short and you gotta just make shit happen. You got any other knowledge you wanna drop on us before you skate?
Slixk: Only wise thing I got to say is – Anything’s possible when you put your mind and 100% into it.
Lamode: Man, well I appreciate you popping out. Thank you for sliding through. Can’t wait to see your growth.
Slixk: Nah, thank you for having me.
