The Bayou Jungle that sits at the Gulf Coast of Texas is the birthplace to many artists breaking through the industry of music, media, and new heat. One of my favorite rising artists right now is YungJosh93, who also goes by YJ93. YungJosh93, the Alief native, started his career while attending Hastings High School, with his fellow creatives that he now is ripping the scene with. You might be familiar with names like Don Toliver and SB.HiT.

YJ93 started his career in high school performing locally. He began rapping with his good friend which he also calls his brother, Don Toliver. They spent alot of time sharpening their skills and working together. In 2016, YJ93 would regularly showcase his freestyling abilities on The Breakfast Club for Charlamagne The God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy.

In 2017, YungJosh93 dropped a collaborative mixtape with Don Toliver, called “Playa Familia”. This mixtape captured the ears of many major names across the industry and even catapulted both of their careers to the next level.

YJ93 took some time off from releasing new music until 2020 where he would regularly collab in songs with “Mr4godonly”. Throughout 2022, YJ93 released an EP called “Writers Block” followed by two singles called “Far From Average” and “Easy On Me”. He also started a new project series which he calls “Love Deposition”. You can find the first of the series on Soundcloud.

In 2023, YungJosh93 dropped a new single called “Stand On Biz” and also released the second video of the “Love Deposition” series on YouTube. YJ is now working on rebranding his image and expanding his fanbase. From freestyling in high school to associating with some of the industry’s biggest names right now, theres no doubt that YJ93 got the juice. Check him out.
